Signal Orchard full review

Signal Orchard costs $39 a month and scored 4.3 out of 5 for alerts that name a symbol, a price, and a rule. The screen is a week of those alerts, not a bell with no number on it.

Signal Orchard screen for Alerts / This week: the navigation is on the left, and the chart and table use the figures from this review.

A week of alerts

Monday's alert was NML crossing above 42.10, which is a price with a symbol. Tuesday was HRB on volume at twice the prior month. Thursday's row was the one that mattered for the score: GLS fired with no quote, and the journal marked it Skip. An alert product that hides that row would have scored lower than 4.3. Signal Orchard leaves the skipped row in the export.

What $39 buys

The subscription is $39 a month for the rules and the journal. It does not place the order. Chartloom, at $29, is the chart if you want to replay the session yourself. Signal Orchard is the bell that still has a number on it. We turned on two rules and left the rest off, because a page of twenty alerts before breakfast is how this category becomes noise. The export is a CSV of time, symbol, rule, and whether we marked it skip.

Who should not buy it

Do not buy Signal Orchard if you want a bot to send the order. That is Gridwell or Driftlane, and those reviews are about keys and exchange fees. Do not buy it if you will not write the rule down before you go to sleep. The product will not invent a discipline you do not already have.

The Thursday skip

GLS fired with no quote. The journal kept the row and the skip. That row is worth more than Monday's clean cross of 42.10, because anyone can alert on a price that exists. The product earns $39 a month by not deleting the broken one. If a later version hides skipped alerts behind a filter that defaults to off, the review comes down until we see the row again.

Do not arm a rule you will not recognize at 6 a.m. The export of time, symbol, rule, and skip is the page you show a colleague. A push notification with no rule is not that page.

The rules, written the night before

Sunday night we armed three rules and no others. Rule one: notify if NML prints at or above 42.10. Rule two: notify if HRB volume is at least twice the prior-month average. Rule three: notify if GLS prints a trade. We wrote the three sentences in the journal before the week began, because a rule invented after the alert is not a rule. Signal Orchard stored them as text, not as a menu of moods. Monday's NML alert cited 42.10 and the time. Tuesday's HRB alert cited the volume multiple. Thursday's GLS alert had a symbol and no price, and the row stayed, marked skip. The export that evening was a CSV with time, symbol, rule, and skip. $39 a month is the price of that file.

Wednesday produced nothing, and the journal showed nothing, which is also a result. A product that invents a "quiet day" badge would be decorating. We did not want a badge. We wanted an empty Wednesday. Chartloom, at $29, is where you go if you want to see why NML crossed 42.10. Signal Orchard does not draw that chart. Using both is $68. Write $68 if you thought the bell included the picture.

What would drop the 4.3

The score drops if skipped rows disappear from the default journal. It drops if a rule can be saved without a number. It drops if the export omits the skip column. It does not drop because a reader disliked being woken on Monday. The Monday alert did what it was asked. The Thursday alert did the harder thing, which was to admit it had no quote. Mintcanopy would rather publish the skip than a week of clean bells. Do not arm a fourth rule you will not recognize at 6 a.m. Twenty rules is how Thursday gets muted, and the mute is a failure of the buyer, which the review will not launder into a feature request.

Sunday night is part of the price

The three rules were written before Monday. NML at 42.10. HRB at twice the prior-month volume. GLS if it prints. Wednesday empty. Thursday skipped for no quote. Friday not rewritten after the fact. The $39 pays for the journal that can hold that week, including the skip and the empty day. It does not pay for a chart. Chartloom is $29 more if you want the average. Mintcanopy drops the 4.3 if the skip disappears from the default export. It does not drop the score because Monday woke you. The rule did what it was asked.

The empty day counts

Wednesday's empty journal is a result. Friday, with NML back under 42.10 and no rule added after the move, is a result. Thursday's skip on GLS is the result the score depends on. Monday's cross of 42.10 and Tuesday's volume alert are the easy rows. $39 pays for a CSV that keeps all of them, including the skip column. Mintcanopy does not include Chartloom's chart in that price. The pair is $68. The 4.3 falls if skipped rows vanish from the default export. It does not fall because the Monday alert worked.

$68 if the picture matters

The journal is $39. The chart that explains Monday's cross is $29 more. Write $68 if you need to see 42.10 and also hear it. Mintcanopy does not fold the empty Wednesday into a badge. The skip on Thursday is the row that holds the 4.3. Lose that row from the default CSV and the score comes down. Keep it, and the Monday wake-up is not a defect.
